Darumoji
Darumoji is a companion to learn Japanese through immersion. Kana, kanji, a translator with furigana and animated stroke order, all in one free app.
What you can do
- Learn hiragana and katakana through flashcards, quizzes, daily challenges, and trace each character stroke by stroke.
- Explore every kanji: on/kun readings, meanings, animated stroke order, detail card and JLPT flashcards.
- Translate a short sentence (FR/EN/JA) with clickable inline furigana. Every word and kanji opens in a detail card.
- Save the words, kanji and phrases you encounter and find them again later.
- Review your favorites — the app brings the right card back at the right time.
The name
Darumoji blends daruma (達磨, the traditional doll embodying perseverance) and moji (文字, written character). A reference to the daruma motto: 七転び八起き — fall seven times, rise eight times.
