Is Darumoji free?
Yes, Darumoji is completely free with no ads. You can use kana, tracing and most features with no account. The translator (3 translations per day) requires a free account.
Do I need an account to learn?
No. Quizzes, flashcards, tracing and kana charts work without an account; your progress stays in your browser. An account is only needed for the translator and cross-device favorites.
What does Darumoji actually cover?
Four pillars: the kana (hiragana and katakana with animated stroke order), kanji (readings, meanings, stroke order), and a sentence translator with clickable furigana.
What level of Japanese is required?
None. Darumoji is built to start from zero with hiragana and takes you up to JLPT N5 on kanji. Intermediate learners can also use the translator to decode everyday Japanese.
Does Darumoji work offline?
Kana mode and tracing work offline after the first load (PWA). The translator and full kanji detail require an internet connection.
